As Cam is going to be on his own, we have been working on learning how to clean. For this, having the right products is essential! At move in, dorm rooms have to be swept and mopped, bathrooms have to be cleaned and walls sparkling with Magic Eraser. So we made a quick trip out to Sam's Club to get ready for back to class!
Sam's Club makes it easy to stock up on everything we need. During August, getting Cam ready for back to class is all about organizing and picking up some of my fave products:
We picked up:
These are a must have for dusty dorm rooms!
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Variety Pack
I can't say enough about how much I love Mr Clean Magic Erasers. When I first tried them out years ago, I bought packs of them for my family and friends to try out. From cleaning scuffed up walls to bath tubs and more, they are a wonder!
For tackling those dusty floors, these are perfect for keeping on track with cleaning.
And of course, the awesome Swiffer Sweeper Wet Refills are perfect for cleaning up grimy dorm floors before moving everything in.
When you purchase all 3 together, it is a $22 savings!
MORE GOODIES TO BACK FOR BACK TO SCHOOL:
SWEETS KIT:
Your homemade cookies or the bakery, a care package isn't complete without a sweet treat. Pack items tightly in a plastic container (fill in extra space with clean paper towels) and then wrap with bubble wrap.
GIFT CARD KIT:
Send gift cards to stores and restaurants in a care package or email. Choose big-box retailers like Target or Walmart, coffee or sandwich chains like Starbucks, Subway, and Panera, and local establishments like the college bookstore.
SNACK KIT:
Consider snacks, like granola bars, microwave popcorn, and hot chocolate mixes, as well as more substantial mini-meals—such as instant oatmeal and soup—for rushed mornings and missed dining hall dinners. Mints and gum are always welcome in a care package too.
HOLIDAY KIT:
Festive accessories are surprisingly welcome and uplifting for a kid away from home for the first time; this care package idea is also nice to send in anticipation of your kid coming home for the holidays. Keep items small, like a desktop Christmas tree, a mini-menorah, and Easter baskets or Halloween pumpkins filled with candy. Seasonally themed lights, like orange for Halloween or green for St. Patrick's Day, are also fun.

Make a mini first-aid care package by filling a tin with:

Here's how to rent college textbooks on Amazon and save $$$!
Amazon Rentals is a flexible and affordable way to get access to select items for as long as you need them. You'll see an option to 'Rent' eligible items on the product detail page.
To rent an item from Amazon Go Here---> https://amzn.to/2Ni9TcS
Just choose a teacher in need, click on their wish list and start shopping!
Teachers and educational professionals can head over to Amazon, create a classroom wish list and then share their lists publicly. Even better, anyone can ‘donate’ items that are on the list and after making a donation, donors can even leave a note or message letting the teacher know how much they are appreciated. So awesome!
Teachers, follow these steps to make your own classroom wish list on Amazon:
Here’s how it works:
Yes, we want to ensure all teachers get the opportunity to use this coupon.
If further identification is required, we can take any document that ties your name and/or email address to an educational system. Eligible guests who are not able to validate online can visit their local Target store and present their ID to the cashier for assistance.
We are not offering the discount outside of the US. Please check with Guest Service at your nearest store for more details.
You will receive your coupon at the email address you entered on the verification form. Please make sure you check your email settings to ensure you can receive emails from third parties.
Electronics, backpacks, lunch bags, trial & travel size items, swim, sleepwear, Fan Central, clearance, items sold & shipped by Target+TM Partners and Levi’s Red Tab are excluded.
If you are a teacher, join IKEA FAMILY now and then visit your local IKEA store in July or August for a special IKEA Teacher Appreciation Event!
To find out if your store is participating, head here, choose your store from the drop down menu and look for the Teacher Appreciation Event (not all stores will be hosting this special event and dates will vary).
Walmart is hosting a Teacher Appreciation Event on Saturday, July 13th from 12:30 to 4:30 PM!
If you are one of the first 300 teachers at the store, you’ll score a free Swag Bag loaded with freebies from Crayola, 3M, Bic, Fiskars & more! Note that some locations are requiring that you bring your teacher ID or email address.
If you live near a participating Verizon Wireless Zone location, they'll be giving away FREE backpacks and school supplies from 1-4 pm! Limit one per child and the child must be present.
1. Think ahead about packing healthy lunches. Sometimes it’s easier to grab a pre-packed lunch at the store, but some of them have preservatives and aren’t very healthy.
2. Sniffling and sneezing going on in your home? Have your child tested for allergies. In my family, allergies are common, so my son Cam had allergy testing in preschool. We know now what to avoid, like pet dander, etc.
3. Teach children proper hand-washing techniques. And to use hand sanitizer if regular hand-washing isn't convenient.
4. Breakfast doesn’t have to be boring! It's easy to stock up on your fave fruits and veggies and blend a delicious breakfast.
5. Get enough sleep! Lack of sleep can lead to getting sick more easily.
6. Stay hydrated! Grabbing a can of soda or a juice box can be easier, but water is the ultimate source of hydration.
7. Make fruits and veggies fun. Every fall, we like to go out to our local orchard and pick apples. This is a fun outing for my son because he gets to pick the fruit himself and then enjoy it later.
8. Help cut down on colds going around school, by teaching kids to sneeze into their elbow.
9. Make a get well kit, with all your family's favorite meds for cough and colds. No last minute trips to the drug store! Here is what I would include in that kit:
